Came across some websites the other day for replacement body joints.

Titanium elbows. knees, shoulders and cranium, that should do the job!!!

chaps, I have a scapula (shoulder) injury, have been offered:

1) physio

2) steroid injection

3) surgery

have done physio (to little effect), I claimed that it worked to get out of the injection. Has anyone had a steroid injection...do you still fit in your wetsuit?! just how painful is it?

Thanks - Suzie Suze.

Popped out my left shoulder 3 years ago.

Tore a bicep tendon in my right shoulder last year.

Two knackered knees.

One knackered lower back.

Two deformed fingers on left hand, one due to a beak and the other due to a torn tendon.

Apart from that I am absolutely fine!

Anyway came to WK on Saturday for my second visit and had one of my best days yet.

Will be coming more often.

Suze,

Most shoulder injuries are caused because of a muscle imbalance. Physio excercises work to correct that imbalance so that the shoulder stays in place. A steroid injection will give a temporary fix, but unless you keep up the physio excercises your injury will keep coming back. My advice would be to give the physio another try. It's hard work but the sooner you get used to doing it, the better.

Don't know much about shoulder but I used to be a pharmaceutical technician many moons ago and steriod injections (mainly cortisone in those days) were generally considered to be an absolute last resort. they give a temporary fix to inflamation and pain misleading you into believing the problems is "fixed" which means that you give the joint more grief than usually and when the steriod wears off (3 to 6 months) you'll be suffering considerably more than before the injection. Don't go there. used by doctors to ge you out of their hair / surgery. Go for the physio option or better still get some sports massage to release the tension in surrounding muscles and thus promote mobility of the joint.
