Is anyone using the chat room successfully?

Whenever I try and go in, it says it cannot link to the server

Not being wise in the techie stuff, I'm at a loss

Bert and I felt that this was not really being used so he disabled the functionality.

Maybe we could conduct a straw poll via this thread as to whether it should be re-introduced.....?

Simply post a y/n reply if you'd like to see it return !

Ern.

I only really use iwindsurf when at work & don't think the chat facility works here - therefore I'm a "N" - unless u can get it to work in my office too.

Used to go in the chat room a bit when it was up and running but always felt like Billy No Mates as I was the only one there. Also coz I can't type very fast if anyone was in there they usually gave up on me obviously thinking I was a bit of a dick head.

Chat is only useful for private conversations, but for general discussions, using chat would mean alot of members would miss out on interesting information, but using the forum, even for basic converstions, at least others may find them interesting to read. As others have pointed out, we dont come on here at the same times, work shy folk live on this during the day shawn.

The private message box is useful for private conversations. The question should be, does the Chat function increase resources needed to run the site efficiently, slows it down? If it doesnt then enable it.

People mention that when they go on it, noone else is on there. What the muppets (no offence) who run this site could do is, advertise that say a few hours a week on a certain day, could be set aside for a large general discussion, so all the members know that at that time people will be online in the chat window... this will stop it being a hit and miss affair. It would be like a club night for iwindsurf members. Im on here most nights briefly, coz the missus hogs sky! So a debate would be fun.
