Hi Kenmorton,

I do not know how the windsurfing is like in Portugal but the surfing is superb. As you know the east cost of Fuerteventura and Tenerife are good for windsurfing. The north coast of fuerteventura is good for surfing. In Tenerife, the surfing is good, las palmeras(left) and el conquistador(right) are good spots in las Americas. If you want bigger stuff, go North, strong currents are a problem. The only problem in Tenerife, I've not surfed there in ages, is that it can be busy.
I hope that helps. If you go to Tenerife I can give you more details of where to go.

Hi Jose,

thanks for that.
Favourite at the moment is probably Tenerife. Looking at Park Santiago apartments - one surfing break right outside the garden path. I will drive over to Medano for the windsurfing.
Do you know much about the K16 surfing shop/school - do they have any intermediate/advanced lessons or group travel to any of the other breaks around the island?
Last year we went to Corelejo in Fuerte, my son joined in with the group surfing with Flag Beach who travelled to wherever was best for the group on the day (not necessarily the best surf) and I travelled around looking for the best windsurfing, couple of days at Flag beach, couple of days at Cottilo and a couple of trips down to Sotavento. This would be a close second choice.
Least favourite option for me anyway would be Portugal. Would drive over there probably to Lisbon area but not sure the windsurfing would be as reliable as Tenerife or Fuerte.

Hi Kenmorton,

I've no idea how the shops operate, I grew up surfing so I always had my own boards. It would be handy to rent a car so you can move around. Las Americas picks up swell from diferent directions but, the north has more breaks. Once you book I'll write a small guide.

Jose
