It looks like a windy forecast for saturday and gives a very good chance to up the stakes for the UK on the gps-speedsurfing website. There is a possy of sailors coming up from the south coast including Simon Hinckley and Bob Cunningham (see Weymouth report) to try and take some of the glory away from the Ozzys. If you have a GPS come on down and give it a go. If you want any top tips on sailing or posting times on the GPS-speedsurfing site then collar me on sail number 180 or Simon Hinckley on sail number 40.

Hopefully I'll be out, but so are the Ozzies at the "Officially Unofficial GPS Championship of Speedsailing", Sandy Point, Australia. The event started on the 4th Nov and finishes on the 12th. I can't find any results.

Check this link,

It can be a bit of a nightmare to get running but once you get the hang of it its not so bad.

Chiz m8.

Do you have your GPSAR software configured with a jpg image of West Kirby?

I pulled one down from Google Earth, which is pretty good, but the callibration of this map, is as you put it a nightnare!

Do I need the Fortrex configured for West Kirby first, then hook it up to the laptop and run the GPSAR software to calibrate the map?

Sorry to be a pain - so much for 20yrs in I.T. - lol

Not worth the effort, when you download the track you can see where you have been.

After you session at WK (gps running while out on the water) go home and hook up to your pc, run GPSAR and download your track and check for spikes (managed 1,212 kts in a crash and burn once)and delete, on the GPSAR screen you will see all your runs so there is no need to use the map. The map will only be for your benefit as the data uploaded is just your best runs.

GPSAR is far from a good piece of software, call it work in progress but once you get to grips with it its not all that bad. Shame the programmers first language is not english as the instructions are far from perfect.
