Barckby beach is just off the A548, in front of Pontins holiday park. It works in a WSW- NW directio n. On high spring tides the water comes up onto the concrete sea defences so its best to sail it either side of high tide. There's a strong rip left to right so you need to be well powered up to ensure you get through the break. If you like wave sailing this works best when its been blowing strong for a day or two, and in a WSW or W direction it's surprisingly good with up to logo high waves. The steep wind blow faces are excellent for jumps. One of the few wave spots, allbeit wind blown, that works on a westerly. There's a car park just in front of the beach. The sea defences and groynes are a pain, but once you get used to them it can be a gas especially if Rhosy is blown out in a westerly.

sailed here a few times since west kirby shutting. as a novice only been when the wind is low (around 12 knots) and its been good fun. great constant wind for practicing waterstarts and mastering the foot staps. Ignore what windguru and xc weather say about wind speed here and check the hilbre island as this gives a much better idea of the conditions there. last time i went xc weather said it was 4 mph and i was happily planing along on a 6.5m. the groynes are a pain for experts but great if your confinence is low because at high tide stay inside these and dont go out in an offshore wind and you can always get back.
