Newborough
A stunning drive, through tall pine woodland, leads to one of the most beautiful beach
es on Anglesey. The sandy beach is on a large south facing bay looking out to the towering welsh mountains. The beach works at all tide states, with some swell getting through at high tide, but it is low tide which offers a 2 to 3 foot lagoon over a kilometre long and two hundred metres wide which makes this beach special. Perfect for windsurfers of all abilities and a magical dream for kitesurfers. The majority of the lagoon has a sandy bottom but there is an area in the middle with large pebbles and unfortunately mussels (will shred your kite like freddie). Id also advise booties for this reason.
As the beach is south facing, it works with any wind that has some southerly in it.
To get there, follow the road to Newborough and then down to the beach. REMEMBER to take 2 in coins, no pennies, for the car park barrier (you can only avoid this if you are prepared to walk 1 miles!). There are also no shops/amenities at the beach so stock up before heading down. If you become a regular then a yearly car park pass at the post office is available for 15.
Nothing else to say, except have a fantastic day!
