Leasowe is situated on the North (actually North West) coast of the Wirral peninsula. It offers sail
ing in wind directions South West thro' North East, 3 hours either side of high tide.
Sailing conditions are completely dependant on wind direction and strength.
North Easterlies provide cross shore sailing with relatively flat water. It is winds from this direction which produce the biggest turn out here due to the fact that the more popular venue at West Kirby will be experiencing off-shore winds.
South Westerlies again provide cross shore winds with large rolling swell excellent for jumping. In the bay to the left of the launch area ridable waves are to be had on occasions. Surprisingly, few people sail here in this direction preferring West Kirby - which can often suffer from a more fluky SW wind due to the Welsh hills across the Dee.
Wind directions between the two above tend to produce good chop.
Care should be taken on tides above 8.5m when the back wash from the sea wall can produce some interesting launching conditions.
The are no amenities other than a recently re-surfaced car park.
Directions : Leave J1 of the M53 and head toward Wallasey. Immediately after the fly-over take a left and make your way along an unadopted road until the first right turn. Turn right and keep to the narrow road (passing a number of small car parks) until it veers to the left and runs parallel to the coast - the car park is directly ahead.
