I grew up in Helensburgh and sailed there a lot in my Youth initially in dinghys and then windsurfing when I saw the true way.

It's a good place to sail in the right wind directions but wouldn't rate it as highly as a 5.

The local team have their own site which is well worth a look - some good pictures.

I'd echo Wee Dons comments...it s great place to learn/progress and offers a good variety of sailing in a pretty scenic area and very much in the thick of it in terms of west of scotland sailing and windsurfing.....in the long lost 1980's Helensburgh had its own windsurfing shop and hosted SWA with up to 80 sailors on the water!...check out the still very healthy local scene now as well...
