Finally there is something to do when it is blowing a SE! I have only sailed here once, it was an 8. 5 metre tide but it was good. I think anything over 8m would be ok to sail here, there would be a bit of a long walk otherwise. In the way of facilities, I did not find much, ie no shops, showers or changing rooms (there is a sailing club house, but when I was there it was very much closed ). there is a small car park that would fit about 6-7 cars and some grass that is just about big enough to rig up on (watch out for unpleasant surprises though, I got dog shit all over my mast-NASTY) . it was about blowing a 5-7 when I was there and it was fairly flat water, not many ramps, but nice and fast. The channel is deep and there is a nice beach to launch from. Watch out when you are in front of the rocks on the right hand side of the beach as there is a ridge of submerged rocks about 10-20 metres from the rocky shore. Other than that there are very few obstacles. To find it turn off the main road that goes through Heswall at the junction opposite the Cottage Loaf pub and just keep going towards the river (mind the potholes) for better directions it might be best going to the Dee sailing club web site. Anyway good luck finding it as it is a good location. It beats the pants off WK in a SE. Enjoy-I did!

The guys at the club reckon you get three hours either side of high tide. I've sailed here a couple of times and personally think its muck, but there you go...
