Blundlesands. (Burbo Bank Rd. North.) in front of the coastguard station north of Crosby Marina prov ides a nearby coastal sailing alternative to the flat water blasting of the marine lake..... Southerlys are good for flat water blastin! Southwest to west typical onshore conditions! Northwesterlys can be very challenging - big and close together! You don't need a very high tide approx. 8.0mts...and it is advisable to sail it coming in or going out as it hits the sea wall at high tide no chance of landing for about a hour and a half! Only just discovered, uncrowded sailing can be had even on the good days...... Thanks to Paul for the info on Burbo Bank.

You couldn't pay me to sail there, I fish various places on the
Mersey (Alex dock and the rocks in front of the wind farm) and the amount of really disgusting shit that comes out of there frightens me- I swear that there is a panty liner farm at the bottom (not to mention tampons, nappies and condoms) If you are brave enough to sail the mersey NEVER NEVER NEVER swallow the water.

I spoke today to someone who knows his stuff regarding wastewater treatment. When I asked what treatment was applied at Sandon Dock, he explained that the discharge looked like the water in his glass. That's obviously not to say it's drinkable, but it's certainly not full of solids, discoloured or anything. The fact that fish are there is self explanatory. The only solid thing you'll encounter are the ridiculous statues.
