I visited Vassiliki in September 2002 and stayed in a beach club in Ponti run by the Neilson crew. On arrival I was dissappointed with two days of dark skies, buckets of rain and fork lightning, however when the sun finally came out, Erik arrived. Vass is a fantastic, flat water venue with wind light in the morning, increasing into the afternoon and blowing cross-shore right to left. If flat water blasting far out to sea and back is your bag then this is a great venue for exactly that. As mentioned in other reviews, the sandbar is fantastic for practising beach/waterstarts and for dragging your kit back up wind. Apart from windsurfing, this is a great mountain biking location and there are opportunities to have a go at wake boarding and a few other excursions. If I were to visit Vassiliki again I would definatley do it with Neilson, the tuition, accomodation and equipment are excellent. Try and avoid the thunder storms at the end of the season and stick to peak season.

Its quite wierd the way the wind suddenly kicks in after lunch and quite hilarious to see new non-windsurfer type holiday makers chasing there stuff down the beach when all of a sudden the wind kicks in.
I did Vass the stingy cheap way i.e. Look on the map at where the windsurf centre is then find the nearest normal apartment and take your own gear. The verdict is that this is a lot of hassle and probably isn't worth the agro but it makes you feel a bit smug.
Of course once yu normal work-a-day coach transfer bloke takes one look at the boards and all the stuff - you know you're getting a taxi. And you have all that worry about whether the flight will let your boards on the plane.
My only complaint - Too bloody hot - Give me a September day just about anywhere on the coast of Britain any day.
