This is not a review of lake garda - there's already millions of 'em - check the boards website - th
ere's also a full boards article on it if you fancy buying the back issue.
I went last week and found a heavenly B & B I'd very highly reccomend - in Malcesine - which gets the really strong early morning wind. Only accomodates 2 adults, with pos 3rd bed in the room for a kiddy.

This place is right on the lake - the room and view are nothing short of magnificentl - on the top floor, fully modernized - stick yer head out of the window at 6am to check the wind... then leggit down to the beach and hit the water with your 4.5 by 06.100 (which is a bit wierd but well worth it - the missus won't even know your out shredding). It has windsurfing storage about 4m from the water. Set in its own gardens with loads of fruit trees, olive groves, grapes, figs etc etc..... Massive breakfast every morning inc fruit grown in the gardens and home made yoghurt, eggs, juice... pretty much whatever you want.... The host - Fabio - is great and you won't know he's about unless you want for anything....
There is a good windsurf/ boat rental centrl 5 mins walk away (i think it was called 'square') - renting good JP equipment for 35 euros a day.
It takes about 8 mins to walk into the centre of malcesine, which is an amazing and lovely place.

I can really recommend 'La Perla' apartments, they are very new, about 7 or 8 apartments about 10 minute walk up a steep hill from Malcesine centre, so a car is needed to get about in the day and to the windsurf hire spots 5 mins away.
It is close enough to stagger back to in the evening though, and give the thigh muscles a nice work out!
They have a large, secure garage, which will accomodate normal cars with windsurf kit, although 4*4 may not fit under the door with kit on.
The best things are they are exceptionally clean, air-con, great views of the lake and the couple who run the place are very very friendly and accommodating, even though their english is not A1 it is not a problem as they are so patient (even after we got lost and arrived at 3.45 AM!!!)
We will definately be returning, with Ryanair flights so cheap it is feasable to do it on a long weekend although you will fall in love with the place and wish you were there for a week! (at least!)
