If you are new to the site and wondering what it's all about there's an introduction here - I try to keep the front page free for displaying latest additions to our various sections.  In short this website is an online community or portal aimed primarily at UK windsurfers offering discussion forums, classified adverts, picture gallery, sailors logs, web links and occasional news stories (They're a bit like buses Wink).  This is no soap box and we are not selling anything (although you can buy a T-Shirt) so get stuck in.

Just returned from Kefalos in Kos (Greece). It has three windsurfing centres, Club med, Kefalos and JB windsurfing. All the centres have a good range of kit based aroud F2 and Naish boards with neil pryde or north sails (BIC for club med). The wind was consistent for two weeks benefiting from the seasonal Meltemi wind that blows during the summer months, usually reaching force 5 to 6 in the afternoons. The main problem with Kefalos is that it is an off shore wind that is full of holes, making it difficult to get into and off the beach (JB windsurfing is the most difficult). It also means you have to select a larger sails to deal with lulls, but leaving you over powered in the gusts. The bay is pretty much flat water, so conditions don't vary much. For the good points, Kefalos is a relaxing resort with enough bars and resturarants and cheap accommodation. The sea is crystal clear and warm, and the wind blew enough to get out 12 out of 14 days. There are also plenty of trips to other islands and to turkey.

Have been to Koz on two occasions and found it to be excellent. If possible use Kefalos Windsurfing, you might have to book via Freedom Holidays. The people are nice, kit F2,Naish,North, all new every year and loads of it. The other centre down the bay also belongs to the same people who own Kefalos. Wind can have a few holes close in but once out into the bay its flat water blasting. Biggest sail I have ever used 7.2, the smallest 5.2. The town of kefalos is a bit quiet at night so dont go if you want a wild time.

of all the windsurfing holiday venues i've been to this one definitely had the worst conditions. flukey, gusty offshore and not very much of it. i think i spent about 1 hour on the water in a week's stay. the place is ok tho.

If you go to Kos try the North and North West shores Psalidi 10 mins from Kos Town Imperial Windsurf Club and Big Blue Surf Centre. Cross Offshores building after lunch. 1st 200m faily flat water in shadow of low headland after that great bump and jump 1 to 2 m. Went the early Sept 2006 fo 14 days out on the water 9 of which 6 < 5Bft awesome. North east coast tends to be choppier with onshore winds some good wave sailing for less experienced sailors

I've been to Kefalos this summer and I found it absolutely fantastic! 13(!) windsurfing days out of 14, force 4 to 5 on average. The kit is great and the people at Jens' center are very friendly and professional.
If you plan to go to Kos then you definately should try out Kefalos!
