Welcome to iWindsurf.co.uk |
If you are new to the site and wondering what it's all about there's an introduction here - I try to keep the front page free for displaying latest additions to our various sections. In short this website is an online community or portal aimed primarily at UK windsurfers offering discussion forums, classified adverts, picture gallery, sailors logs, web links and occasional news stories (They're a bit like buses ). This is no soap box and we are not selling anything (although you can buy a T-Shirt) so get stuck in. |

Just returned from Kefalos in Kos (Greece). It has three windsurfing centres, Club med, Kefalos and
JB windsurfing. All the centres have a good range of kit based aroud F2 and Naish boards with neil pryde or north sails (BIC for club med). The wind was consistent for two weeks benefiting from the seasonal Meltemi wind that blows during the summer months, usually reaching force 5 to 6 in the afternoons.
The main problem with Kefalos is that it is an off shore wind that is full of holes, making it difficult to get into and off the beach (JB windsurfing is the most difficult). It also means you have to select a larger sails to deal with lulls, but leaving you over powered in the gusts. The bay is pretty much flat water, so conditions don't vary much.
For the good points, Kefalos is a relaxing resort with enough bars and resturarants and cheap accommodation. The sea is crystal clear and warm, and the wind blew enough to get out 12 out of 14 days. There are also plenty of trips to other islands and to turkey.
