    Welcome to iWindsurf.co.uk
If you are new to the site and wondering what it's all about there's an introduction here - I try to keep the front page free for displaying latest additions to our various sections.  In short this website is an online community or portal aimed primarily at UK windsurfers offering discussion forums, classified adverts, picture gallery, sailors logs, web links and occasional news stories (They're a bit like buses Wink).  This is no soap box and we are not selling anything (although you can buy a T-Shirt) so get stuck in.

To start with I thought this was a competition to see who could post a review from the furthest loca tion so this is as far as Ive been windsurfing! At the north end of Fuerteventura is a small holiday resort of Corralejo, this is the alternate windsurfing resort to Sotovento. Simply put Corralejo is the wave sailing location and Sotovento is the flat-water location. Anyway getting back to the review, Glass beach is one of the many breaks around Corralejo but perhaps less well known than Flag beach (and better sailing). So how do you get there? Drive out (yes you have to have a car and your own gear) of Corralejo and head south on the main coast road back to the airports. You pass through the dunes and hotels on your left, as the road comes back to the coast park, its about 2 miles south of Corralejo. The parking is along the road side and you should find somewhere but dont pull off into the sand as I saw someone have more fun digging the car out than sailing. Rigging is on the beach so be careful with getting your mast stuck together. As you look out to sea, the break is on your left, it a point break and allows starboard tack front side riding when the wind is out of the north west to north east (the prevailing wind around here is the trades and thats a north easterly), the waves can be mast high but I mainly saw 6fters, more than big enough for me. Launch in the bay and head out passed the break to take you spot in the queue for the waves, dont be deceived by the wind in the bay its normally a little less than out on the break. If you dont fancy going out in the waves you can stay in the bay in flat water or venture out in the swell south of the break. So the wave heads among you have the waves and the partners can sail in the flat water. This location can be very busy but if you pick your times you can have it virtually to yourself. I took the decision to go bare foot and regretted it when I ended up on the point chasing my kit, Id now recommend booties or toughen up the soles of your feet. A very nice all round location which I would recommend when Im not there.

I was there last week and can veryify everything in the report above is quite true. Unfortunately I never saw it in anger - I was just planing with a 6.1m sail and there was no swell running but even so there were waves on the point and I could see it's potential. Keep your eye out for the people sunbathing in the nude in the little stone windbreaks along the beach - you can see some truely gruesome sights. Also whilst I was there I witnessed a particularly low tide and lots of rocks were exposed - the point about wearing protection on your feet is worth noting.

Yeah I also went to somewhere like that a few years ago-did'nt seem very windy to me. I went around August time and the only wind I saw was on shore. Maybe a different beach. Down the coast it gets a bit more touristy as you go south, but there was one brilliant beach around 2 hours out of corallejo, cross shoire 5ft break. Anyone else been there? (sorry i can't remember the name!)
