Fornells is a large inlet on the north coast of Menorca, it's got a small mouth which opens up into

a larger area creating a very safe area to sail in. It's very popular with lots of yachts, dinghies, diving etc based there.

There are two options for windsurfing - a dedicated holiday company (Menorca Sailing) and a local guy who hires kit (Windsurf Fornells). To use Menorca sailing you have to book and stay with them and you get a whole week of Sailing with tons of gear to choose from and lots of tuition and safety boats etc - I haven't used them but you can clearly see their activities when you're on the water.

The local hire is good - he (Ramon) sells hire sessions in half days (4 hrs, 10 - 2, 2 - 6) on a sliding scale - the more sessions you book the cheaper e.g. the rate in May is 58 euro's for 1 session but 159 for four.

He has lots of instructors who will help you or you get the four hours tuition, alternatively you can help yourself to the range of gear, JP boards & Neil Pryde sails mostly.  His gear is quite up to date, I took the wife out in a Laser 2000 one day and used a Bic Formula + 9.8m sail the next ! what a monster ! Another day I startde on a JP free race with 6.5 and worked my way down to a JP 105 & 5.6m as the wind developed.

The water is warm and the setting lovely, it's slightly shifty and gusty being almost an inland lake but feels very safe. There's very little for advanced sailors (i.e. waves) but for people looking to advance into footstraps, gybing etc it's a brilliant venue.
