Anyone know if there is any hazard to sailing at W.K.on the tide, following the warning of the spillage over the weeekend. exactly what went in and what quantities were involved ? null

The original announcement on the environment agency website says very little, it can be found here.

There is then an update which says a bit more but not what chemicals etc are involved. It can be viewed here.

From the sound of the second page above it wasn't very serious and by the time it hits the estuary it will be extremely dilute just from the river water never mind the effect of meeting the tide. The page says 225,000 litres of diluted effluent was spilled and although that sounds a lot our company puts about 22,000,000 litres per day into the river dee and that's a very small percentage of what flows down the river !!

In my opinion you're in more danger on the roads on your way to the lake than from the water....
