    Welcome to iWindsurf.co.uk
If you are new to the site and wondering what it's all about there's an introduction here - I try to keep the front page free for displaying latest additions to our various sections.  In short this website is an online community or portal aimed primarily at UK windsurfers offering discussion forums, classified adverts, picture gallery, sailors logs, web links and occasional news stories (They're a bit like buses Wink).  This is no soap box and we are not selling anything (although you can buy a T-Shirt) so get stuck in.

    Hi all

As you know Wirral Council was been working in partnership with a developer to develop The Sail project. This project was controversial for many lake users not just the windsurfing community because it reduced parking and access to the lake. Myself, Mike Maynard, Dave Bradley made alliances with a number of other Lake users such as Peninsula Canoe Club, West Kirby Sailing Club, Scout Groups and formed a group called the West Kirby Lake User Group, which now represents about 2500 users. Our aims are.....
To create a body of people that represents the majority of sailing school and lake users
To petition decision makers with sufficient influence that the users needs are considered in decisions affecting the sailing school and lake
To ensure safety standards, facilities standards and access are maintained and upheld or improved
To become a “trusted advisor” to the Council on issues concerning the sailing school and lake
Secure clarity on the consultation process and how responses will be taken into account in the process

We lobbied the Council in a professional and considered manner and although the project has been shelved by the newly elected Conservative administration, we are now at a stage where our group, is in a position to form a working group with the Council which seeks to identify and improve issues the users have with the Lake & Sailing School.

I realise many of you may not be aware of the unseen efforts and alliances this group has formed. However to help us move to the next stage I would invite you to respond through the forum to the question
"What would most improve the experience of using the lake for you?"
Many of you will be tempted to say "make it free of charge", but I'm not sure the Council will find this helpful! Please can you consider this question carefully and let me have your responses before close 10th April.

    Thanks for your input

    Carl
