ImageIt is with great sadness that this article is written.

Brain Green passed away Thursday 12th August.

Brain was a prominent windsurfer at West Kirby Marine Lake, there so often that he may just have lived there, except when he was at Rhosneiger! Brain will be known to a great many at the lake (if not in name then certainly in face) both as a fellow sailor and to quite a few as a helpful guy who repaired sails wanting nothing in return. Brain had been suffering from Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and passed away at home having been receiving palliative care, his funeral takes place this Wednesday.

I’d like to request that the rest of you out there live and sail a long time.

Goodbye Bri,it was a pleasure knowing you. Brian never had a bad word for anyone and I dont know anyone who had a bad word to say about him. There was a great turnout for the funeral in Urmston. The church was full and overflowed with family and friends out into the carpark, around 20 winsurfers and partners attended. He will often be in my thoughts and bring a smile to my face with images of him with the peaked windsurfing cap on, getting a brew on in the back of his very well kitted out Blue van.

A sad loss. He was always willing to offer genuinely constructive advice to me and any other windsurfer who asked. A truly top bloke who will be missed by many. West Kirby won't feel quite the same any more.

Goodbye Bri. You were always available with whatever spare kit I'd forgotten ( a regular occurrence to this day) and a smile and advice.... you will be sorely missed. A true gentleman.

Brian was a great guy - he was a regular sailor who loved it for the all the best reasons. As Mike says he would happily help anyone out with sail repairs or advice as he had a deep understanding of the physics and technology. I've sanded a ding from the odd fin or filled a hole in a board but Brian made his own sails and used them regularly.
A sad day - rest in peace Brian
