SW facing beach, picks up swell coming up the Irish Sea. Doesn't get as big as Hells Mouth and the rides are a little shorter. There's also groins to contend with in front of the promenade; these dissappear at the south end of the beach where there's also a peaky left/right beach bar. For windsurfing a SE or NW are good. Good alternative to Hells Mouth when it (Hells) gets crowded. Best on the dropping tide, look for a swell height of 5" on the Aberporth wavebouy.

Great in a SE, cross off and the wind accelerates off the hills turning 15 knots into 25 knots plus! Don't tell everybody though, as not a lot of people know that! Usually small waves, quite slow, but great fun and very forgiving. If you're new to cross-off wave riding, you won't get it much easier than here. Really friendly locals, too, after 2 or 3 sessions here you'll be on first name terms with most of the surfers, and theres not many places you can say that about!
