There is good information on sailing at Roa and Walney on the website www.walneywindsurfing.co.uk
Anyway, Barrow is a great location for windsurfing. Usually windy, the harbour and peninsulas around Roa allow relatively safe sailing on most wind directions. Its possible to sail in the channel at low water (but strong currents), and in the harbour or the other side of the causeway at high water.
