Greetings from Weymouth! 2 Years, 1 Month ago Karma: 5
Yesterday saw the first day of competition here at Weymouth with good winds (I was out on my 5.3 freeriding) and some very good sailors!

WKs own WindyJohn dominated the fleet and came out first windsurfer with a massive 35.76 average speed over 500m beating Dave White into second. WJ was however just beaten by a kitesurfer who broke the course record with over 36 knots. Other stars include Carl Miller who came in at 12th position (managing just 2 runs before a big crash unfortunately put him out for the rest of the day). Carl is out again today and frothing for a good position.

Nick Brumfitt and Mark Heyford are also out, and considering how different the conditions are to their normal spots are both doing incredibly well. Neil Hardwick is also fighting hard, recording some good speeds and more notably being recognized as a very good sailor by some of the best sailors in the world.

The wind is steadily increasing today, Bjorn is out trying to regain his Weymouth crown and all the WK boys are giving it some serious welly!

Long range forecasts predict that Friday will be the day, and with the Weymouth record gone and $1000 up for grabs courtesy of Da Kine, it looks like it'll be a stormer!

Watch this space for further news!!!

Day two at Weymouth...

Not a lot of wind, gusts upto about 14 knots, and a lot of people struggling! Apart from a certain Bjorn Dunkerbeck who clocked 29 knots, taking the days highest speed.

Other notables where Nick Brumfitt, who set a Weymouth personal best smashing his previous best, and Neil Hardwick who had an excellent day, sorry can't remember his speed, who was the quickest of the now infamous WK crew and finished high up the leaderboard. Windy John resorted to using borrowed big gear, which understandably he wasn't completely at tune with, but he did have a great pub quiz answering a lot of questions. More used to the lighter conditions Mark "the door smashing flannel boy" Heyford and Nick "the Beaver" Brumfitt started to climb the leaderboard, and with the course changing to starboard tack, both the boys felt right at home.

Windy Jane is starting to feel better after her massive crash in warm up on Sunday and casualty on Monday, and is hoping to get out on day three.

Day three...

Hardly any wind this morning and the course opened just after 1pm. This suited a lot of competitors as last nights quiz put a lot of people out of action... "Beaver" Brumfitt and "the door smasher" Heyford where on fire this afternoon, shaking their hangovers off and blistering down the course. I expect when the results go up tomorrow, they will finish in good positions.

Tomorrow looks like its going to be a blinder, with very strong SWs forecast to hit at midday and carry through to Friday. There was talk of early nights, and Mondays fastest kiter is preparing to break the kitesurf world speed record. Dave White is expected to return, Bjorn D wants his record back, our very own Windy John is looking fantastic in stronger winds, and Windy Jane is expected to hit the course again. I can't wait...

Here is the URL for the results

I think this Weymouth Speed Week site is amazing

It looks like it was designed by boffins who havent got a clue as to presentation or ease of use, and the stats they give you, well the monkey must have been working overtime typing them up!!

Glad to see the WK boys doing well, lets see if the gales hit and what difference that makes.

Fatboy - don't slag the site off or your karma may drop...!!! It is a rubbish site though eh?

Wednesday Results...

Not the windiest of days and our very own MarkH rocked in at 8th position (the highest of the crew) and Nick an amazing and not so unlucky 13th. Both lads looked great on Wednesday and seem to have now disappeared from the South Coast...

Thursday...

Unfortunately I had to be elsewhere but back in Weymouth now, so missed the days events. However the days results are...

1. Dave White 36.64
2. Bjorn Dunkerbeck 36.57
3. Nigel Bowley 36.1
4. Dan Ellis 34.84
5. Windy John 34.55

Windy Jane also scored a very good 24.6 with bruised ribs! A very windy day yesterday, but unfortunately the course is pretty square, so speeds are reflected in this. Don't forget also that these speeds are average speeds over 500m, not GPS blips, which makes them bloody quick!

Friday...

I turned up about an hour ago, and would be overpowered on a 4.7. Bjorn Dunkerbeck has just gone out on a 6.3, a sub 50 litre speed needle and a weight jacket. He was overtaking cars running parallel to the beach here. Crazy fools. Watch this space for tomorrows results!
