i wish the cramp was after 2-3 hours, i get it pretty much straight away. i'll stay off the heels on a fri and sat night, see if that helps?! i'll go for the banana/apple thing to see what that does too.

andy it doesn't really matter whether the footstraps are at the front or back of the board the amount I use them!

Suze

have you tried doing some stretching before you sail, how about your boots, are they to big so you are trying to grip them with your toes?

If its that bad do you get it during the day when you dont sail? If you do I would suggest a visit to the docs as it might be something else

At this time of year. sail in bare feet. that will cure it. I used to wear boots but hate wearing them now cos they cause me pain!! Your sailing will improve aswell!

have you chnaged your board recently ?

I had one board which gave me cramp in the arch of my foot (always back foot) almost immediately I started sailing. I could, however, eventually sail throught it. I changed board at some point and never suffered from the foot cramp again.

I tried all of the above (except high heels - at least on a board anyway) to no avail. I suspect something to do with the dome of the board. Some boards just do not 'fit' well with some peoples feet.

You could try Quinine (tonic water). Apparently its supposed to help. I've had a few patients with foot cramps when swimming but that's usually down to combination of fixed muscle contracture for a period of time and the temperature. Magnesium and Vit B12 are also good - try some multivitamins! You may end up rattling but at least it may distract you from the cramp. Hope it resolves itself! x
