I set up a rig on my mountain board, goes well with a 4 or 5 on a car park and up to a 7 on the hard sand.

As said, you do tend to trash booms!

I have seen Skate boards being used but there is very little room for error! also the debris on most car parks can have you over the nose.....ouch!

I have never gybed as smoothly on the water as I do on the beach!

ENJOY!!!

Windskating is pretty fun. I took my regular skateboard and moved the trucks to the very ends so its more stable. You don't need alot of wid as there is alot less drag compared to be on a windsurf board. Works great with a 5m sail or less in not alot of wind. If ur based on the wirral and its blowing south easterly, head down to Tesco carpark in heswall after its closed - its perfect, loads of trolley bays and bollards to gybe around.

Hey dude.... I've been windskating for ages. I use 2 boards depends on conditions, a Sector9longboard which is great on carparks, mega fast so use 4.1 and i've a mountain board for grass and when the carpark is wet, manily use 5.8. First adjust the footstraps on the mountain board so u can get some control in mid air.. You will trash your kit, boom and sail so watch out...

Hmmmm. As I posted in another thread, I had a go at Speedsailing last week. It was fun whilst it lasted and good slow speed gybing practise, however it also left me on crutches and now making a trip to see an orthopaedic surgeon to sort out a twisted knee. Oh and I'll not be on the water for a fair few weeks at least

Beaches and car parks are a lot harder than water. Take care.

[Edit. Be warned. The Speedsail site linked has some particularly awful Bontempi organ music which plays on launch]
