well i've finally done it monday at 4 mile bridge the nose of my board went through the sail right behind the harness lines. I've tried duck tapping it up but the sail just feels wrong now. Has it lost tension or something and fit for the bin? It was a old sail anyway but if I can get a bit longer out of it i will

ahh thats it finally logged in! I dinged the bottom of the board quite good to on a rock, is it worth filling the ding in? it hasn't broken the gel coat but has left two big gashes about 8" long in the middle of the board

I have had sails that have been held together with Duck Tape that have not lost any of the performance.....I suppose that it depends how big the tear is. Anything bigger than 6inches I would probably get a pro repair done. Surf tech at Crosby have mended about 4 of my sails and they have always been good as new after....they can actually replace half a panel to save a bit of money, if the other half is sound. I would suggest calling neil there to see what he quotes before you bin the sail. (though if the sail is ancient, it is worth looking closely at it to see if there are other weak spots...it is a ball ache to spend money getting a sail fixed only for another panel to go on it's next use!) Was there wind on monday then? I did not think there had been anything in ages!!! What size was it 12m???
