I know you are in Wigan, but the simplest way I can think of is getting onto the M6, M56 towards wales. End of the M56, take the first exit off the roundabout. After about half a mile there is another r/bout. Take the 3rd exit (r), then keep going till you reach WK.

The marine lake is signposted.

Granted it may not be the shortest route from where you are, but it's simple.

You may be quicker to go through the tunnel to birkenhead and cross the wirral from there, but i'm not the person to ask about that route.........

the rossendale valley windsurfing club is quite near to wigan they sail on the Clowbridge Reservoir near Burnley.

the webpage has a _link_ to realtime weather on the lake so you can check it out before the journey.

West Pennine Sailboard Club is _base_d at Watergrove Reservoir, near Rochdale, about 3 miles from Junction 21 on the M62.
