Just wandering what size tide you need to be able to get out, so i can plan for it in the future. Does anyone know what size tide is over the wall and into the lake, or the minimum needed to go out for a decent amount of time.

Thanks.

Steve.

On Sunday it was a 7.75Mtr and you had to whizz to the far end of the lake to launch from there.I have always found a 9.5 or 10mtr to be best cause you used to be able to launch from the car park, this gave a couple of hours sailing. though there are restrictions on where you can launch from, hopefully some of the local sailors can spread some light on that for you.

Regards

Andy

Some of the longstanding locals will be able to give better advice than me, but I'd say that a tide of over about 8.5 is typically an OK sailing tide. The forecast heights are of course forecasts and subject to some variation. In a 10.something and a good onshore wind you could be launching from near the changing rooms, never mind the car park slipway.
