What is the secret to vulcans? I know you have to tuck your feet up, dig the nose in swap hands etc. put just can't quite pull them off!

Furthest I have got is skating board backwards, after a brilliant tip from WindyJohn. Whenever I land I seem to be landing heavily, so always trip on a rail.

I even had a dream last night I was doing spocks, but couldn't vulcan! I noticed in my dream I was grabbing the mast with my front hand, does this help? Is this a message from the windsurfing free_style_ god?

Any advice gratefully accepted...

I stick to Flarve gybes as they are a lot easier!

My main problem when learning vulcans was that i was trying so hard to get the board round 180 degrees that i was over rotating and always landing the other way round but in the water on the down wind side.

The key to it was to do a chop hop but not even think about the board but to concentrate soley on getting your hands around, u can do it holding the mast or not holding the mast i think its personal preference. The most important bit is to get your hands onto the opposite side of the boom once this is done you'll find that it is pretty stable. The tucking your legs bit is right and it should happen naturally when doing a chop hop and if you can get the nose jammed in the water then it will help guide the board round. But most importantly conventrate on the hands. also viseos and magazines helps

Anyways who needs to do vulcans when you can do spocks in your dreams. Apparently it is sometimes easier to do one handed spocks than than normal ones, i nearly did one once but was so shocked that i had made it all the way round that i fell off!

Good luck

steve

Nothing quite beats scaring everyone by sliding towards them backwards at about 20kts

Can't say I'm having dreams about the move more like nightmares and torn ligaments!Understand all the hands stuff, and can get round & land off a big piece off swell....Flat water and sliding backwards however is a mystery I've yet to solve. ...who will enlighten me as to getting the "slidey backwards" bit?????

Heard all about your nightmare! Sounds nasty!

Have only ever done the "slidey backwards" thing once on flat water, I think its got something to do with keeping your weight over the front of the board, but to be honest it was just jammy!

Had a dream the night after that I did a perfect floaty one handed back loop...
