i am going to head this way over the bank holiday, camp site is booked and all is set, just got 1 small prob and i hope you can give me some good advice.

I aint been sailing long maybe 2 month or so i do have my level 1 and own a Fanatic viper with a 6m arrows crazed rig which is fine for when i sail up at Ullswater but what i need to know is will this be of any use at Rhosneigr,i understand the wind conditions may not alllow a 6 m sail but if it does i need some help with sailing on the sea, as i do feel quite comfortable on the board now and i am in the harness and happy in strongish winds like we had last weekend [almost had it planing saturday] .If anyone can help cheers if i am wasting my time taking the board just say so as i have never even been to the place before, but i am a stubern fool and will fall and fall again to learn as its only water and we all been wet before aint we....

Take the board!!!!! You know if you dont, that the weather will be perfect for your standard of sailing!!

There is not always waves at Rhosneigr and there is a lake behind the village if the conditions are too musch on the sea.

Dont know the long term forecast but bet it will be light and flat as the idea of wind, waves and sunshine on a bank holiday weekend is beyond comprehension.

And if I am wrong, you can sit and marvel from the beach!!

Enjoy!!!

My mates tried to convince me that the lake was really full of big underwater rocks, worse than rhossy bay... the jury's still out... i'm not sure if they're trying cunning ways to try to get me out on the sea or if that lake is underwater rock infested.. any views? It has to be said that i am a tad gullable so it wouldn't surprise me if they're trying it on!

I have sailed the lake a couple of times when it was far too big for my standard (carve splasher) on the tide; yes, there are a few rocks, but all very above the surface and easy to avoid. If there had been any submerged rocks, I'm your man and would have found them!

The problems I found with the lake were

1: very angry glares from local anglers at the time,

2: The wind tends to blow away from the bank you launch from (opposite the pub), now this may not be a problem; however, do beware that if you can't get upwind well it might be a good idea to avoid as a family went out whilst I was there on a starboard start and other such floaty things (in a force6!) and a couple of them drifted all the way downwind and had to walk back whilst the most skilled windsurfer went and rescued the boards and rigs by de-rigging them all, tying them in a snake formation and then slogging them all the way upwind using the start

It took him hours and my respect goes out as my arms would have fallen off before acheiving this feat!

If your heading that way PlasitiC, why not check out 4 mile bridge, it's a tidal 'inland sea' so nice and safe, and with the high tides this weekend should be sailable for a lot of the day, even if you have a daggerboard.

Check out the reviews section and West Wirral Windsurfers galleries section for more info!!
