Novice venues North Wales 10 Years, 10 Months ago

Hi,
I have bought a house in Snowdonia which is approx. 5 miles from Dinas Dinlle. What I need is good venues for the novice - that is someone who is in the harness, can beach start, but not in straps and cannot water start. I am used to WK - is there somewhere similar. Looking at Anglesey, there seem to be 4 or 5 lakes or reservoirs with Llyn Alaw looking perhaps the best bet. Some of the coastal venues could be a bit testing - I don't know if Dinas Dinlle is or not.
Cheers.

wow - u lucky man!! If you are 5 miles from Dinas, I'd say you should sail there. It can get a bit wavy when the winds up, but can also be a lovely spot when its not so mad. You might find it difficult at 1st because compared to west kirby it will be much bumpier, but ultimately it will make you a much much better sailor.

Maelog lake at Rhosneigr is quite popular and then if it's not too windy Rhossy itself is very beginer/intermediate friendly plus if you go regularly you will meet the local crew who will be pleased to pass on hints and tips and help get you progressing. Then before you know it you'll be out in the waves.

Cheers for that. Is Maelog lake what is referred to as the Inland sea. If not, can you give me the correct name of that so I can find it on the map please?

Maelog lake isn't the inland sea. Maelog is the lake that you pass on your right just before you enter rhosneigr village. The inland sea is more towards treaddurr bay - http://www.iwindsurf.co.uk/content/view/6191/147/
