This Sunday (12th July) 14 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
This Sunday looks a pretty good forecast - I've not been out in ages. I usually sail at WK and although there is a 8.2m tide in the afternoon I would like to try somewhere else as the lake is obviously still closed. Is Leasowe OK with this tide? Any recommendations? I live in Stockport so anywhere within 2 hours is good. I don't want to sail on my own to somewhere I've not been so if anyone is planning to sail it would be great if you could let me know.

Thanks

Mike

I'm in the same situation as you are. I'm not sure whether to go to Crosby, not been in ages, or somewhere in the coast, Prestatyn, Rhyl, etc but never been there. Anyone else interested?

Hi Mike
I live in Stockport too (Offerton), and a member at West Pennine near Rochdale. Its only 35 to 40 mins for me and although the water level is low, its still a good place to sail. For an inland location it gets good clean wind due to the height of the location. The forcast is for W SW which is the best direction at WP. There are plenty of windsurf members there of a high standard and its a really welcomind club, so it should be a good day. You're welcome to meet up and follow me if you wish. A day ticket is about £6!
Just send me an email through iwindsurf with a contact number and I will give you a call.

Thanks Tim,
I'd like to sail at West Pennine (I've been there but not sailed) but really fancy some coastal sailing tomorrow. Thanks for the offer though - is it right that to sail there you have to be signed in as a guest?

Jose I was planning to go to Rhyl (Kimnel bay) a couple of weeks ago but the wind didn't come.... I think you can sail there at any tide. By Crosby do you mean the marine lake - and is it open?

Any others got plans?

Mike

Might be wise to stay away from Rhyl, there was a sewerage leak reported there on Wednesday.
