You'd think that the head of the sport and leisure dept would encourage sports, & not present us with barriers, thats one weird sports & leisure dept??? I wonder if it would be possible to sign a disclaimer to get around the sueing thing. With WK lake closing for repairs in Oct, I was going to use Crosby Marina when the tides ar'nt right on the Dee. I'm guessing that the coast guard are not always present so its possible to sail without being kicked off?? Strange that the coast guard get involved as we sometimes sail WK lake without cover but we dont get chased off.

Spoke to Alastair Robertson (should get his money back from the charm school), who said there is a meeting next week with the interested bodies regarding using the lake, which will include Crosby Windsurfing Assoc. The licence will reflect the fact the lake will not always be available, and you could hope the fact that we're into May already. Pay-as-you-go would be prudent. I asked how would we know when the lake would be availble for use and he said you'd have to join a club and find out that way.

That's a ridiculous but safe situation at Crosby.
Anyone know what they intend to do with West Kirby Lake in October? How long will it be shut? Lets hope they dredge it out along the wall as it's getting kind of shallow in places. I also hope they fix the wall properly this time, rather that just throw in some sandbags and extra tarmac. Why can't they do the work now as there's bound to be big SW in October?

Hang on, number of windsurfers killed at Crosby... None.

Number of people (possible drug dealers getting themselves into a pickle, but I'm not sure) killed at Crosby... At least one.

I hope they tell the drug dealers and deliberate no-gooders that they can't use the facilities without approved backup.

Reading stuff like this makes me mad, why are these councils so hell bent on pressing the self destruction button?! I went surfing this weekend, and got out on two days for 5 hours each, scored some amazing waves and in the breaks between the waves, sat out the back, and just took it all in. It was incredible. Perhaps Alastair Robertson should come for a paddle and see whats really important in life. And I had no rescue cover.

How long is the lake shut and where you peeps going to go? Not much water here in Shrewsbury-on-Sea either!

Possibly West Kirby until that closes. After that it's the sea, like you say without safety cover. Who knows, I might never go back!
