How could a modern hotel possibly benefit the West Kirby water front and land scape????I'm not sure that it
will benefit to any great extent, I just don't think it will be the nightmare sceanrio you paint with hordes of chav's followed by arcades...etc.
Firstly West Kirby prom is hardly an architectural success - Hilbre Court FFS !!!
Secondly there is at least one building - the big yellow one, which I'd put more than my usual wager on (a cup of coffee from the free vend machine at work) ...was a hotel.
Thirdly West Kirby has more flats than it's much maligned namesake KirKby on the other side of the water. It ain't quaint...(don't get me wrong I Love the place)....but that ain't the word
Here's a thought....
get rid of that cafe/greasy spoon on the pay and display and replace wth a Hotel ( you know the sort that WK residents would go to on their travels). And with Gif no longer selling cheap ice cream and crisps.... the beach looks a lot less appealing to chav's already.
Plus....The resturant in the town will also benefit from hotel residents...more money in the town, surely a plus.
And No I don't work for the Council
or the consortium
...I simply want better facilities, I know the council ain't going to spend the money required and that the private sector will with a kickback (the Hotel). I only live 5 mins away, and I believe that the hotel of this sort ie expensive boutique, will not be deterimental to the town. p.s I don't like the (modern) design of the hotel btw. I'd prefer something more traditional.
On a personal note I can understand Robby-Rash's concerns as I suspect he has a view of the estuary from his back window which will be replaced by the back of the hotel. As I said been there....One day a small wood the next a bloody warehouse (built on designated Green Belt - NEVER trust the council (although this was not Wirral))...
