rigging help 7 Months ago Karma: 0
Hey im relatively new to the world of windsurfing and i seem to be having trouble rigging up

*when i put the mast on the mast sleeve the battons sit on one side of the mast, even when completely rigged up... it means the sail has good shape from one direction, but on the other side it doesnt sit right or look right.... is this normal???

i hope ive explained it alright

Hi Winnie if you can give us some more info on the kit you've got (sail brand, model, size etc) we can probably be more helpful.
At a guess (if the kit you've got all matches) you need to put on more downhaul (more tension on the rope at the bottom of the sail) probably a lot more. This will pull the battens away from the mast a bit. The end of the battens should sit at the side of the mast and rotate to the other side reasonably easily e.g. when you've got some wind in the sail.

Winnie,

It is probably fine! Failing Sharkeys top tip, have a look at the mast (length and curve) and then check it against the recommended mast details on the sail or the sail bag. If it corresponds then your sorted! If the sail is new but the mast is old, then it may not be a perfect match, and vice versa...

Alternatively next time your out, ask somebody on the beach and they should be nice enough to show you.
