Carl, i've had a look at your report on Mauritius and it seems that you have used some photos that I took. I'm very disappointed that you didn't ask my permission to use these as my photographic skills are in high demand. You can make it up to me though through finiancial compensation. I will pm you my account details and don't worry, the money will go towards very important things that students need such as:

-train trips home to go windsurfing
-beer

You know it makes sense!

Realy good informative write up. Have been thinking about a trip to Mauritius for a while (even tried to get a last minute deal this September but was quoted more for one week b&b than Shawn and Alex paid for two weeks AI )
Only thing is what am I going to do when there's no swell? My other water _base_d activity is surfing for when there's no wind and this old dog ain't likely to be able to be taught any new free_style_ tricks. I can only do big sail blasting for a short while before I get bored.
Has the Indian resort got any catamarans, I do enjoy playing about on Hobie cats in the sun and nice warm water.
What about the reefs, can you swim out to them with snorkling gear or is it best to go out for a proper diving trip (gave up diving because I just got bored waiting between dives)
If there is no chance of getting out on the water are you able to just get totaly bladdered without the other guests thinking you're just a scally.
And finally what about night life, is it just mainly chilling and chatting about the great day you've just had and the prospects for tomorrow or can you do your John Travolta impressions till the early hours.

Hiya ken

There wasn't a single day while we were there that there weren't at least head/ logo high waves - they were just a bit messy. I can't imagine a day when there would be no waves at all, but I s'pose anything is possible...

Other stuff at the centre included:
A variety of canoes, SUP boards, hobie cats, pedalos (extreme big wave pedalo action anyone!?), surf boards, scuba diving etc.. so I'm pretty sure that you'd never get bored.

I don't know about snorkelling, but I reckon on a flat day it would be fantastic - the reefs looked to be in good condition (from the etreme close ups I got whilst being dragged along the reef on my face - ouch, my surfing sucks) and are not too far out to rule out a couple of mins paddle to get there.

Booze wise - it seemed generally accepted to sink a few beers through the day if required, but I didn't see any people dancing on the tables in their speedos (pegleg) until after dark.

Night life - if I see any of those cabaret performers again I may end up in jail for a number of reasons, not least of which may involve violence because they were absolutely crap, far too loud, and on everynight. Even the novelty of them being about 14 & in very skimpy outfits wore off after a few days...
On the other hand - there were some damn comfy chairs slightly away from the dreadfull cabaret which were good for chilled beers & chatting. Pool table & internet too.

If yer a disco animal, you can join in with the cabaret girls after about 10pm & boogie the night away, although if u pick 'jazz night' u may be surrounded by the blue rinse brigade...
