Once again I'll say I'll get involved.
If you search these forums (which I woŽ't bother as I'm in internet booth in pub in menorca) you'll find it's been discussed to death before - my old experience would have said don't bother telling the lifeboat you'll only get a string of abuse and critisism but the personnel have changed there and you may get a different answer but probably still "we can't cover you" which is fair enough - maybe you could have someone on the shore watching? ribs would be great but nobody knew anybody with one last time we discussed this.
A group of decent sailors with a few flares etc should be safe enough to blast a good way in the right conditiond

simon form the sailing school has said we can borrow the two big ribs which are very much capable of doing the job,

All we have to do is pay for the fuel, so we don't have to get the RNLI involved, if another rip is needed i could talk to dee sc or west kirby sailing club.

getting some lightwind alternatives would be awesome and make what a wasted day into something a big fun, so once we can get a date i'll contact turfdog and exocet,

jay, stus little bro said stu was planning a similar thing, if he is we could team

Great news if you can get the ribs.

Let me know if you want me to contact Graham at surfsales (Exocet importer) about demo kit

Maybe make the long distance bit sponsored? RNLI?

to make the most of the tides i think the event should be aimed for the bigger tides in oct and sep and if we plan for a weekend we have a two day window, form lookin at the tides 29/09 week looks the best.

1/09/07 9.38m high water 14:32
2/09/07 8.98m high water 15:15

29/09/07 9.7m high water 13:29
30/09/07 9.44m high water 14:10

27/10/07 9.65 high water 12:29
28/10.07 9.58 high water 13:10

havn't spoken to stu so not sure if he was planning such an event too
