eat more pies & chips.

This will sink the board and prevent any part trying to raise up!!

Works for me

I would say, I normally sail with 8-10m sails, I normally have the mast foot further forward 'cus it does tend to stop the nose rising up.

There thats proper advice, still say eat more chips though!!

Cheers for the replies.

More pies and chips. I'm going to have to use a calculator to work out the foodsail equation.

chips/1 stone * Pies = new sail/0.75

too tricky for me to work out.

I'll break the Electric rock out with the 6metre I've got next chance I get.

I am now wondering if I should pass on the formula board to raise a bit of cash for some other gear.

Second time out and possibly due to the extra pies etc, or the mast foot further forward and a 7.4mtr sail and the board went really well. Managed a good sail, got the board planning and accelerating hard without the nose pointing skywards. After an hour I felt myself relax into the sailing a bit more and thats when things started to come together a bit better. The wind was about force 4-5 I would think but a bit gusty. In the higher wind moments the board accelerated fast and felt good.

cheers,

Dan

Something else to think about - Formula boards are designed to go up and down wind, they're not very happy just beam reaching across the wind, the massive fins tend to try to lift the board out of the water for a start.
Personally I don't like them and unless you're racing or really want to plane in the lightest possible wind (which means you need a 10-12 m2 sail and new mast and boom) You'd probably be better off with something else - big (120-140l) freeride or slalom if you feel the need for speed and 7.5 to 8.5 m2 sail

yeah i would agree with that, it's more a case of what I have to hand at present. When funds permit I will get myself something more suitable. In the mean time I am just so desperate to be out in the water I am having to make do as such.

Cheers,

Dan
