not sure if any one knows about this, every year, the sailing clubs from the wirral sail out to hoyle bank (behind hilbre) to a all day party of drinking and sailing, anyone up for it

its this weekend and there is usally a great offshore breeze

Hi robthe? - Yes I've been many times. West Kirby Sailing Club normally set up a bar on the sand bank.
Beware that all the action is at low tide - they sail out in the morning and wait for the tide to go out then party on the bank allday and return on the evening tide - my point is that to get a windsurfer out there you're either sailing for a long time or you need to walk out across the beach later (has been done a few times in previous years)
