I notice that a decent N / NNW wind is forecast on Monday (Bank Holiday). A 7.8m tide is due at West Kirby at 09:30. Is the tide big enough to get a decent sail ?

You'll be able to get out on a 7.8M tide from the south end of the lake (near the moorings) as it's deeper water there. There's a sandbank by the black channel marking buoy which usually throws up some good chop. Be careful as the tide won't stick around for long and you will be out of your depth.
