Given it looks like North Easterly this weekend, has anyone got any good ideas for sailing spots in the NW? I was wondering if a trip to Lligwy might be in order. Anyone else got any suggestions?

I'm not convinced that lligwy would be any better than last time we made the trip (warmer definately) but the wind does not look that strong and would be pretty onshore... The Gower however looks rocking all weekend!
Or, (again a very long trip, depends how stir crazy you are going...) I went to Bigbury the weekend before last and it is an awesome location, apparently works best in a NE. Just a very long drive

Bigbury is a bit far for this weekend I think, though it's definitely on my to do list. I'm looking for somewhere within reasonable distance, and not to extreme given my dodgy knee has not really had proper sea trials yet. Anyone else got good ideas?

Anyone know what conditions at Fraisthorpe are likely to be?

Bridlington is supposed to work well in a N.E. and the RAC route site says 2.5hrs from M/cr. Trouble is the North Sea makes the West coast look like the med at this time of year. I windsurfed in the North East until the mid 90's and it was winter steamers until late July. On the other hand the tide doesn't vanish and you get good beaches and decent swell

Check out big al's forces of nature site - he reckons Aberdovey works well in a NE'ly with the wind accelerating down the valley.
