I'm aware of at least 5 people who own JP's (freestyle waves and freestyle boards mainly) who have all had the same problem.
I wanted JP's from the moment they came out and bought a bullet proof Wave 250 (yellow & white). Then came the Freestyle wave 94 - performance I loved - but the contruction!!!!. I sent it to Blue Chip to have the nose repaired and Brain who runs the place told me they were famous for it down south. We're now three year on in terms of releases - maybe things have changed - but as someone who always looks after their kit I just couldn't take the fact that with every new manoever I tried I was s**ting myself as to whether the board would survive if I messed up. It was not condusive to learning new stuff - which ain't good for a board selling itself as a freestylewave!!!
I dread to think what state it would have been in had I been trying Vulcans/spokes and flat water forwards !
Now I may be jumping to conclusions based on the boards I had but Pre Neil Pryde - Bullet proof - post Neil Pryde buy out...well....delicate.
