sail repair advice wanted - bodge job coming up 1 Year, 10 Months ago

Hey guys,
I'm learning to windsurf on some old hand-me-down gear I acquired. It's old and knackered, but it moves me through the water so I'm quite fond of it. however, there's been a few tears etc on the sail windows, which i've previously bodged with duct tape (i tried gluing some spare polytunnel cover on with epoxy glue, which did me proud for a while but now starting to peel.
I'd have done a proper job with sail repair tape, but i live in the Falklands and you can't buy it in shops, and i'm currently too impatient to wait 2 weeks for it to be delivered (just want to be out all the time). it's also not worth sending sail away for fixing - it would be cheaper to buy a second hand sail in the UK and send it down
anyway, whilst harnessed in I fell on the sail and have put my elbow through the window in the corner, which has also ripped into the stiching. Not cool!
Is there anything I can do to DIY it other then loads of duct tape (which i read is not recommended!). any type of readily available glue that I can use to glue some kind of panel on, or any other ideas?
I'm hoping to upgrade kit at some point in the future, but it would be nice to hand this stuff onto someone else in a useable state, to infect them with the windsurfing bug and thereby spread the love...
Apologies for unnecessarily long post
Dan

I've never had any probs with duct tape - in fact, i reckon it made my sails go faster!

You can get clear "Duck" Duct tape which does the job and lasts for ages.

Just stick with the duck tape especialy if it's the only stuff you've got. I used to have a 6.2m sail that had duck tape repairs to all the panels, some covering quite large tears, but it was still tough enough to take out into fairly rough conditions. Only retired that sail coz' my darling wife felt embarased for me and sugested it was time I replaced it with something a bit better.
