Hi Dransy. You probably need to say a bit more about you ability/experience before people know how to help you out. There's gybing and then there's gybing.

That said, a good place to start might be

Are you having an coaching, or have you at least got hold of an instructional DVD?

Hope you're having fun.

O.K. sounds like early days so don't get too paranoid about gybing.
Footstraps, harness, waterstarting and good ealy planing technique are much more important. Practice all of these first because if your not planing then you can't carve.

Then every time your out sailing study how the proficient sailors gybe. Try and copy them. Ask them questions if your stuck on anything. If possible go on a clinic for gybing. Plenty of DVD's about as well and some web sites e.g.(http://www.geocities.com/txccwa/wintips.html http://www.windinthehead.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=15)

Main thing is just enjoy yourself and gybing willhappen sooner or later.

If you're on a long board you have to remember the way you gybe depends on whether you are planing or sailing in displacement mode.

Planing, you tilt the board in the direction of the turn.

Displacement, i.e. dagger down, ploughing through the water not skimming over the top, you tip the board in the opposite direction.

Once you remember that you can start refining the process.

Good luck
