Masts come in standard lengths, 4.0m 4.65m & 4.9. It depends what other sails you are going to buy next, if it is smaller you can go for a 4.30 with an extension or if want to stick with one sail it will probably rig on a 4.65 by the time you take into account the length of your mast foot.
Manufacturers recommendations are not always accurate, try ringing surfstore (check the site _link_s) who distribute "Loft", I have always found them helpful in the past.

Doesnt it have a mst length written on the sail somewhere?

For a sail that size I'd say a 460 would be most likely to fit best, but like Gopher says, if you can get away with a 430 you'd be able to use that with smaller sails too.

You'd probably need a mast extension with both of them anyway.

Check out,

http://www.loftsails.com/kam_pages/1/e/7.php

..now even if you don't have the 2008 sail, there are _link_s at the bottom to previous years product. Find yours and you should be able to find the manufactureres recommended specs.

I'd agree too with the comments so far, If you can get a samller mast and an extension to bring it to the correct length then you in theory carry less kit. But you need to ensure the curvature (IMCS) of the mast is correct (or roughly the same) and that if you buy a big extention pay good money fo it 'cos the cheap one can be very heavy.

Shawn, got ya new bike yet ?

Hello, I'm also new to the forum as well as windsurfing, so correcty me if I'm wrong, but i think masts are straight, while the sail curves/bends/flexes it as you tighten things up.
