West Wales can be OK too...theres some photos of the surf on my website at http://www.forces-of-nature.co.uk. Although the best days don't usually get photographed as I'm always in the water... there are a few absolutely classic spots along the Cardigan Bay coast, and one world class spot (that breaks a few times a year).

They are also talking about putting an artificial surf reef in at Borth some time in the future..Kerry Black has here and is doing a feasibility study at the mo, so the surf at Borth may improve quite a bit soon.... More on this Here

Cornwall is wicked, i always spend at least two weeks straight down their traveling the coast looking for waves and pure suring power. my best destinations are Newquay of course, but even better is Watergate Bay, then there is St ives where the swell can be wicked, but to top things off is Sennen, last year was the best with the last day me being there, out in the surf at about 6pm, bieng joing by a school of Dolphins, it was majical, sennen it so cool, you have to try it

Personally I hate Cornwall in the summer... Its just about bearable in the winter, but theres just TOO many people there. I worked there for a few years life-guarding on the beaches and the tourists just get on my nerves... Newquay especially is horrible...full of pseudo-surfers.

If you want REAL surf in the UK then the Outer Hebrides is the place. As far as I'm concerned its the most consistent place in Europe, has some monster waves...I've seen it in the 20 foot range (30 foot faces)..And no I didn't go out, but I have surfed it at around 12 foot (20 foot faces!).! Best of all no one around for miles, just you the waves and the seals. The windsurfing is shit hot too...Loads of photos and info on my site. And you can just park up in your van wherever you want..The locals are ridiculously friendly too and the alcohol flows freely.

Talking of dolphins, we've been surfing and sailing with them here in Borth loads...Theres quite often a pod of them in the bay. And on occasion they come within about 10 foot of us.

Yes but its Cold, just a tad, plus a few hundred miles extra, and who lets a couple of dumb holiday makers get in there way, in the quest for the holy grail, must try the outers though, any good beaches to mention

Yeah, I'm not gona say its warm up there!

For some details take a look here

I haven't given too much away as far as the details of the individual beaches goes as the exploration is part of the fun...Personally we like the Uists better than Lewis and Harris as Lewis and Harris were too busy and populated for us!! However, the surf is better on Lewis and Harris.

Take a look here for some photos..Just click on the relevant islands for the photos themselves.

Its definately worth the trip. Just be prepared to SLOW down a little. Its an amazing place with almost unlimited surf potenial...The windsurfing is good too.

You're not wrong there Justal. The Outer Hebroides are an amazing place. Empty beaches and crystal clear waters. I ma still wearing a summer suit when out kite surfing. For an idea of weather I keep a weather diary on my site as well as lots of pictures.
