Found another windless alternative that really rocks yesterday.... I took a trip to the automated ski tow at rother valley country park and spent the entire afternoon ripping about on a wakeboard!! It was great fun, and dead easy (afetr a few face plants and a good bit of water swallowing) although not quite upto windsurfing standards. I should imagine it's great practice for kitesurfing, and there were a few people practicing with kiteboards instead of wakeboards. Also good for arm strength and toughening up your hands - today I feel like I've had a day long force 7 session on the tide.

It cost 25.00 for about 3hrs 45 mins, which is pricey, but well worth it on the odd occasion when you may loose your sanity due to being landlocked for too long.

It's on the net somewhere but my work restrictions won't let me find it....

Sounds great but is it 'wake'boarding - i.e. if you are being towed by cable there is no wake so can you jump ??

Aha - I've managed to circumvent my work internet system - check out:http://www.sheffieldcablewaterski.com/

Yep - you're right - there's no wake, but that doesn't mean you can't jump - far from it! I saw plently of people 4ft or more off the water yesterday - even I managed a few little ollies. The web site has loadsa pics of airbourne nutters.

It's Rother Valley Country Park - very close to Sheffield - 10 mins away from the dry ski slope there (in good traffic).

25 pounds for 3 hours u say. Expensive this is. Makes 10 pound a day at Marine lake seem cheap maybe the price should go up?
