Looking to buy my own kit. I have a board and a 2009 tushingham rock 5.2m with a 4.30 luff. Where the hell do i start in knowing what type of mast to get hold of? I'm looking to spend no more than £100 on a used or nearly new, any ideas on what type? I am guessing the lighter the better and i know carbon fibre fits this bill but so does the high expense.

Hi Steve, you should easily be able to get a modern, used, two-piece 430 mast with some carbon content for under £100. I think mine cost around £30, in good condition, off flebay. You could also try Boardwise - somewhere near Stoke, or RobinHood Watersports - towards Leeds or Juice in Huddersfield. Ebay is where i'd go though.

I've just bought a barely used full rig for £300 notes. 8.5 Tush sail, Aeron boom to match and a 490 80% carbon Tush mast. All three from the same seller, listed separately and only one other 'token' bidder on the sail and mast! A bargain. As i picked the items up i could of course check them out before handing over the hard-earned.

Its good gear and cheap, nearest store to Northwest is at Stockport J1 of M60 they don't keep any windsurf gear in store but you can order it and then either collect from store or have it delivered.

Keeping my eye on ebay, but no luck as of yet. But that sail does sound like a bargain. I guess patience is what i need but i am eager to get on the water asap. Been looking at boardwise, and may just order from there. Thanks pal
