Kite query 6 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 15
Yes yes - I appreciate I may desrve to burn in hell for posting this on this website... but well... thats probably gonna happen anyway, so here goes...

Do any of you kiters out there know anything about the 12m Cabrinha omega hd? Is it a decent kite? Easy to relaunch/ self launch? Easy to use? That kinda thing.. Any comments (not involving name calling) would be most appreciated. Cheers.

I'm looking for nice new 12m kite, easy to self & re-launch, loads of depower, not too scary.... any particular recommendations?

Shawn

Hi Shawn

Probably like you, I wanted a kite for lighter wind days to maximise time on the water. Not knowing much about the sport I took the advice of hangtime kiteshop in Fleetwood & ended up with a 14m Blade Vertigo http://www.bladekites.com/vertigo.php, as i’ve never used anything else I can’t tell you how it compares to others but I learnt on it & it works for me. Others who’ve tried it on the beach say it’s got good depower & on occasions I’ve managed to self-launch ok. What’s more it was comparatively good value.

Despite what some kiters have said to me, I won’t be giving up the windsurfing for kiting but it does add another dimension to ‘playtime’ & is a blast on those more marginally windy days

Cheers. Rich.

Yeah - thats exactly what I'm after rich - an alternative to flogging my 6.5 around the lake.
I just bought the Cab Omega 12.0 - I hope its a nice kite & I don't die horribly with it.

Any tips on where to inflate & launch it at Kirby would be appreciated now = )

Thanks

Never kited at WK but Fleetwood's good & safe couple hrs either side high tide as you can touch bottom quite way out and there's always someone on the beach that can give you a launch, you can kite in the channel at low tide also but maybe not for beginners. NNW facing beach covers few wind directions. (as this w/surfing forum ) Fleetwood is also a very versatile w/surfing location...as i've mentioned before of this forum!!!
