Hi all,

Take a look at this site. http://www.nationalwindsurfingweek.org/

Then ask yourself/friends if there is anything you can do that week to help promote our sport.

If you can offer any help or run an event please contact the team via the website.

Let's hope 2008 is a windy one.

Well I suppose it is, sort of, but not for commercial gain*. Phill is a decent chap and he and a few others have put a lot of effort into getting the initiative off the ground. There's a very long thread on the idea the Boards mag forum if you want to check its bona fides.

It sounds an excellent idea to me.

* though they are selling t-shirts and stuff to raise funds for the cause.

Thanks TwoFish.

You can read about the launch on Boardseeker, Boards mag news and Windsurf mag. We launched at the Earls Court boad show where Bryony Shaw got up on stage and did an excellent speech.

It's all about getting more people on the water. There is no commercial interest from the group involved. Everyone has spent their own time and money getting this off the ground. The tee shirt sales are just to cover the costs of letters, banners and advertising etc but sales so far come nowhere near close.

If you think you can get your local club or group involved it would be fantastic. There are many events planned for the week but so far it is very south coast biased. Let's try and get some momentum going north of the watford gap.

If you lot can think of anything you can do to promote the sport that week we will help advertise it. We are starting to get lots of offers of help etc so if you come up with an event maybe we can help.
