Any locals have any help with where is safe to sail in the river Dee estuary. This weekend I ventured over the lake wall onto the open sea. Are there any rips, currents or places to keep clear of. I felt that staying this side of little eye and south of the coastguard car was most sensible to get back into the lake but I noticed most people were staying over in front of the beach towards the golf course.
Also what happens to the wind when its offshore by the road on the lake it seemed to eddy and spin and kept throwing me all over the place.

Hi steve - I replied to this on the anonymous forums a little while ago, you can read the thread here
In reply to your second point - an offshore wind on the lake is a serious headache - I think most locals do sail one about once per year, remember how bad it is and vow never to do it again, which they don't until they forget about a year later......

Thanks, sorry I thought the previous question hadn't worked as my computer gave an error message. Will stick to the more northern end of the lake in the future.
re. offshore wind, that'l explain why no-one else was sailing on the lake at the time. I did feel a bit of a tit with everyone watching from the road with my boom spinning me round one way and then the next. Good practice for balance though I suppose.
