We at Hollingworth Lake are setting up an Email alert system/ Twitter for when we expect our strong Easterly winds.

Many of you may have heard about Hollingworth Lake; you may not know that we get a freak easterly wind or “Beastery” here during the summer.

When there is High pressure over the South England this strong force 6+ kicks in at around 11 o'clock, the wind is accelerates down the hill above the lake like a katabatic wind.

So our proposal is that we monitor the weather and hopefully give a couple of days notice and an alert on a day that this is likely to happen.

Great idea mike we had some great easterly winds last summer and some mega sessions on the water at Hollingworth lake. Not many people realize the potential of easterly winds at the lake and I for one totally love it. Last year we had one week where I sailed 5 days on 5.2 and below
